Islington, in inner north London, was formed as a borough in 1965 by merging the former metropolitan boroughs of Islington and Finsbury. It is the second-smallest London borough by area and one of the most densely populated, running from Clerkenwell and the Angel in the south, along Upper Street, up to Highbury, Holloway and Archway in the north. Much of it was built up as a London suburb during the Georgian and Victorian periods.
The borough has a long tradition of entertainment, with a theatre on the Sadler's Wells site in Clerkenwell since the late seventeenth century, and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, which opened in 2006 after the club left nearby Highbury. Islington's homes include Georgian and Victorian terraces in Canonbury and Barnsbury, large council estates and many converted flats — properties where compact boilers and careful planning matter.
Islington is a borough of Georgian and Victorian terraces, large council estates and a great many converted flats, from Barnsbury and Canonbury to Holloway and Archway. In conversions, space and flue positions usually decide what can be fitted, so we survey carefully and check lease conditions. In older terraces, the existing pipework often benefits from a MagnaCleanse before a new boiler goes in, protecting your investment from sludge.
